GolferWeather Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
ActiWeather Ltd provides GolferWeather for iPhone and iPad and is responsible for personal information handled through the app and its supporting services. For privacy questions, contact jonnie.s@live.co.uk. For app help, contact support@bikerweather.co.uk.
Location, searches and weather
You can search for a golf course or place without allowing access to your device’s location. Searches use Apple Maps services and may include the area around your selected place.
If you choose “Use my location” and grant permission, GolferWeather requests your location to find your area and show relevant weather. Apple’s location services also help resolve place names and time zones. You can change location permission in iOS Settings. Background forecast updates use your last saved place rather than tracking your movement with background GPS.
Weather normally comes directly from Apple WeatherKit. If that connection fails, the app sends the selected location’s latitude and longitude to our shared weather service hosted on Render, which requests weather from Apple. This location may be a searched course, a manually selected place or your device location.
Information stored on your device
The app saves preferences, favourite courses, recent places, the selected location, notification settings and access status locally. It shares forecast and preference information with its widgets through storage on your device. Local diagnostic information helps the app operate and troubleshoot refreshes.
Complimentary ten-day Premium access starts on first use. Its start date is stored locally, including in the device’s Keychain, so deleting and reinstalling the app does not normally restart it. This trial does not automatically subscribe or charge you.
Subscriptions and notifications
Apple processes Premium subscriptions and payments. GolferWeather uses Apple StoreKit to check purchase and subscription status and stores access information locally. The app does not ask for your payment-card details or require a separate GolferWeather account.
Tee-off alerts are local notifications. You choose whether to enable them and can change notification permissions in iOS Settings.
Service records and retention
Our weather service processes the coordinates supplied with forecast requests. It may retain forecast caches, recent weather observations and operational records to deliver reliable forecasts and investigate faults. These records can include location coordinates. Hosting logs and backup copies may have different retention periods.
If you contact us, we receive the information you include, such as your email address and message. We use this to respond and handle the issue. Contact us with questions about retention or deletion of service and support records.
Why information is used
We use information to provide the weather, search, subscription and support services you request. Optional device access depends on your permission. Operational records support our legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable service, investigating faults and preventing misuse.
GolferWeather does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Service providers
Apple and Render process information when delivering their services. Their processing may take place outside the UK. For their privacy practices, see Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and Render’s privacy policy at https://render.com/privacy/.
Your choices and rights
You can clear recent searches, remove favourites, change permissions and manage subscriptions through Apple. Deleting the app normally removes its local app data, but the trial Keychain record can remain. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, and object to certain processing. Contact jonnie.s@live.co.uk. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
